Tips To Avoid The Tripping Of Circuit Breakers

Category: Electronic

One of the most important devices that is used to ensure the safe use of electricity are circuit breakers, and while it is common knowledge that come in all types and sizes, the one function that they serve is to cut off the power when it goes above a particular measure of amperes that your system can actually handle.

This cutting off of the power is also known as a ‘trip’, and among low voltage breakers that is found on an electrical panel, and is very simply, just the changing of the switch from the “On” to the “Off” position.

Of course, you will find that the most popular names in the business are GE and Siemens breakers and almost all of these companies emphasize the importance of avoiding breaker trips. So here are a few common tips that can be followed so that you can avoid unnecessary breaker trips in the future:

Tip #1: Ensure that you unplug all electronic and electrical devices especially when you aren’t using the device. You have to remember that all electricity still runs to these devices even though you aren’t using them.

Tip #2: One thing to watch out for is the number of appliances used during a bout of cold or hot weather. Air conditioners, heater and lamps are definitely a drain on the electrical supply during these times, so you should keep a watch on these appliances. This will definitely cause even the latest Westinghouse circuit breakers to trip.

Tip #3: Checking the grounding of the apartment/ home is also an excellent idea since the electrical wiring might have been damaged or have come loose in any way.

Tip #4: Ensure that the appliance cords aren’t damaged, spoilt or cut in any way.
